Summary
Printed cotton case cover fragment (?). Blue/grey cotton printed orange and gold Hand sewn. Border at bottom edge; hemmed either end with press-fasteners; cut top edge irregularly. Printed Cotton;twill weave dyed blue/grey;printed orange and gold metallic pigments. No loom widths cut to. Block size. Straight repeat drop, not complete, width of block, 580 mm. Italian Renaissance source. a) self fabric border 50 mm, dyed blue printed gold metallic pigment, guilloche band. Early 20th century manufacture in Venice by Mariano Fortuny.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
