Summary
A monochrome photograph of two small children and a small white dog, standing in a garden area with a building in background. Written in ink underneath the photograph: '[?] Children & Whisky Pontaven'. Photograph 3 of 102 contained in Volume 1 of Costanza Hulton's personal photograph albums (1886 - 1901).'Pontaven' is assumed to be Pont-Aven in Brittany, north-western France, historically a popular destination for artists and visited by Emile Bernard and Paul Gauguin. William Stokes Hulton and his wife Costanza, the parents of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick, spent time at Pont-Aven during their honeymoon, following their marriage in 1886.
