Summary
A monochrome photograph of a small white dog sitting on a floral patterned chair and looking upwards. Writing in ink underneath photograph: 'Whisky Pontaven'. Photograph 2 of 102 contained in Volume 1 of Edith Teresa Hulton's personal photograph albums (1886 - 1901). 'Pontaven' is assumed to be Pont-Aven, which is located in Brittany in northwestern France. Pont-Aven has historically been a popular destination for artists and was visited by Emile Bernard and Paul Gauguin. William Stokes Hulton and his wife Costanza, the parents of the Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick, spent time at Pont-Aven during their honeymoon, following thier marriage in 1886.
