Summary
A monochrome photograph of Costanza (‘Zina’) Hulton (née Mazini) (1863-1939) with a group of five friends. In each of three apsidal niches is posed a man and a woman wearing overcoats and capes, the women standing, the men sitting. Written in ink underneath the photograph: 'Alice Aitken, Capt Gilpin Brown, May Sellar, C[oun]t Mocenigo, Zina, C[oun]t Bon'. Photograph 18 of 102 contained in Volume 1 of Costanza Hulton's personal photograph albums (1886 - 1901). Costanza (‘Zina’) Hulton was the mother of Edith Teresa Hulton, later Lady Berwick. Alice Aitken and May Violet Sellar were both friends of the Hulton family. Numerous letters from them are contained in the Attingham Collection, Shropshire Archives Accession 112. Count Mocenigo was a Venetian aristocrat and father of several young friends of Teresa Hulton. The photograph was probably taken by Conte Enrico Lucchesi-Palli: see also National Trust Inventory Number 610136.20
