Summary
A monochrome photograph of William Stokes Hulton (1852 – 1921) leaning against a wall with a canal or river in the background. Writing in ink underneath photograph: 'Willy 1889 R. Austin'. Photograph 17 of 102 contained in Volume 1 of Edith Teresa Hulton's personal photograph albums (1886 - 1901). William Stokes Hulton was the father of Edith Teresa Hulton later Lady Berwick. The photograph was taken by Richard Freer Austin who was married to Harriet Alyne Austin (née Hulton) the elder sister of William Stokes Hulton. It is thought that this photograph was taken in Venice where the Hulton lived at 6383 Calle della Testa, San Zanipolo.The family referred to the house as Casa Hulton. The photograph was taken by Richard Freer Austin, husband of Harriet Alyne Austin, elder sister of William Stokes Hulton. This photograph was taken in Venice where the Hulton family lived at Calle della Testa 6383, San Zanipolo.The family referred to the house as Casa Hulton; it was previously known as Ca’ Donà dalle Rose.
