Summary
One of a pair of cardboard card-racks, with red shield-shaped backplate and triangular pocket to front. Grisaille illustration of Neptune reclining on a sleigh pulled by horses, palmette motifs. Applied stamped gilt paper borders. Hung on cotton tape loop. Made in France, circa 1820.
Provenance
Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
