Summary
One of a pair of hand held face screens with shield-shaped board and ebonised handle (lower part missing). Grisaille illustration of a classical female figure seated on a chariot pulled by two lions, putti above. Outer border of blue leaves and applied gilt borders. Green morocco paper backing. Possibly made in England, circa 1820.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
