Summary
One of a pair of hand held face screens, consisting of a rococo shaped board and turned giltwood handle. Applied embossed gilt scroll borders to central cartouche containing a hand painted Japanese female seated before a blue porcelain vase on a table and holding closed umbrella. Possibly made in France, circa 1820.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
