Summary
One of a pair of French hand held face screens, consisting of a shaped oval board surmounted by cut-out eagle, painted grey handle with gilt banding (lower part of handle is missing). Grey silhouette of classical female figure on chariot pulled by two lions, pink ground, scrolling ivy and berry outer border. Circa 1820.
Provenance
Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
