Summary
Lace collar/flounce. Cream cotton threads, mesh grounds with gimp outlining motifs. Design; repeat 80 mm; border 35 mm of flowers and circles. Footing band 12 mm; heading straight; flounce 8.5 cm gathered to footing band. Hemmed either end. Gathered more closely either end. Made in Buckinghamshire, late 19th century.
Provenance
Found tied together by string with ATT/TC/188-191 with pencil note on paper by Lady Berwick which reads: 'Old Bucks'. This edging wrapped round business card for 'Gardner and Son'. 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
