Summary
Bobbin lace border. Cream cotton thread bobbin lace, mesh ground, gimp outlined motifs. Design; repeat 85 mm. Floral. Straight footing, heading follows design, cut either end. Made in Buckinghamshire, late 19th century. Note written by Lady Berwick on envelope reads: 'Pieces of Old Bucks to be repaired'.
Provenance
Found in envelope in white box with letter and Note. Label on Box A) 'Old lace to be repaired'. B) 'Burano lace - Mrs Hulton' (only Burano piece identified is ATT/TC/156). Found in box 14 pieces of lace ATT/TC/181-194. 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
