Summary
Application bobbin lace border. Cream cotton thread bobbin lace, droschel mesh ground, spray and leaf sprigs applied, raised edges. Design; rose and rose spray with leaf sprig scattered. Repeat 25 mm. Scalloped heading, straight footing cut one end, hemmed one end. Made in Brussels circa 1810.

Found in yellow box with handwritten note by Lady Berwick (1890-1972) 'Lace, Mechlin and Alencon belonging to Empress Eugenie. Old Brussels bought in London'. 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
