Summary
Lace border of bobbin lace. Cream linen thread, (silky) cord/gimp, plaited mesh hexagonal ground, linen stitch motifs, cord outlining motifs. Design; repeat 57 mm. Flower and stem with sprig. Leaf and flower on heading. Straight footing. Almost straight heading, cut unpicked hem either end, possibly a cuff. Made in Mechelen, Belgium,19th century.

Found in straw box with other laces and notes written by Lady Berwick (1890-1972). 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
