Summary
Portiere curtain. Pink trimmed black portiere. Dull pink silk warp, undyed linen (?) weft. Warp faced satin ground, weft faced pattern. Design; vertical stripes a) floral; b) plain; c) zig-zag; d) plain. Repeat 14.5 cm. a) Dull pink satin. Black zig-zag border 35 mm; b) black embossed velvet, tulip between borders 50 mm Repeat 30 mm x 50 mm Rose pink silk warp, pale gold silk weft (of heavier count). Warp faced satin and unbalanced plain weave taffeta with moire finish. Design; vertical stripes 'tabouret'. Heading straight with rings for pole attached to Rufflette tape. Main fabric bordered by a) at top. a) and b) two sides with b) continuing at bottom edge. Deep border above, 290 mm of a)b)a)a)b)a)a). Borders faced with lining two sides and bottom. Rufflette tape was introduced in 1922. The lining could be Regency and used in the c.1930 structuring of the portiere. The borders date from c.1930.
