Summary
One of six brocatelle fragments. Crimson silk, pink/beige cotton. Baroque 18th century source a) cut on four sides. b) cut on four sides and split. c) machine sewn seam; cut on all sides irregular; darning. d) same as c). e) machine sewn seams; cut on all sides irregular; darning. f)Machine sewn seams; cut and split on all sides; darning. Woven brocatelle; crimson silk warp; pink/beige cotton weft; warp faced satin weave; unbalanced plain weave motifs. Loom width 540 mm (21.25 in). Straight drop repeat not complete; 18th century baroque source; as ATT/T/49. Purple/mauve cotton twill weave diagonal ridge. English manufacture between 1860 and 1899.
