Summary
Gold damask fragment, the structure of which suggests it might have been part of a chair cover. Woven gold silk damask Cut irregular; marks left from unpicked seam, which suggest part of chair cover. Woven damask; gold silk warp and weft; warp faced ground; plain weave unbalanced motifs. Loom width (?) Repeat not complete. Shows the figure of Neptune to the same scale see ATT/T(Gill Medland Cat)/23. Possibly made in France circa 1911.
