Summary
Cylindrical silver wax-jack, the lid having a narrow circular opening and reeded border. Fitted with hinged C-scroll handle. This would have been filled with a coil of sealing-wax taper fed through the circular opening in the lid, and when lit it could be used for sealing letters. Maker's mark, I.D., London, 1811.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
