Summary
Wood turning lathe manufactured in 1815 in London by Holtzapffel & Deyerlein (no.837) with headstock, tailstocks, double mahogany frame treadle gear, nest of six drawers, etc, plus approximately twenty hand turning tools, drills chucks, etc. The 1827 sale catalogue lists a Holtzapffel & Deyerlein lathe (No.830). The 2nd Lord Berwick was a keen wood turner, owning Nos. 835, 862, 1070 and 1148. His Turning Room is currently used as the Tea Room (G1). 5th Lord Berwick owned No.1972.
