Summary
A pair of metal kitchen scissors. Manufactured by J.Rodgers and Sons (stamped with star and Maltese cross) between 1900 and 1930. Scissors were used in all areas of food preparation; for cutting string for trussing meat, cutting paper for baking and for wrapping the meat prior to roasting on the spit over the open range. Kitchen scissors were also used for cutting the paper decorations placed on the end bone of a joint so that the carver didn’t get his hands greasy.
