Summary
Diplomat's dispatch box circa 1830. A rectangular wooden box with hinged lid. Covered in red moroccan leather, and lined with marbled paper and blue velvet. Brass bail handle and lozenge escutcheon. Circular plate to side. Three gilt ciphers 'GR' with coronet.Inscription engraved on a plate reads: His Majesty's Ministers of the Court of STOCKHOLM His Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs LONDON.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
