Summary
8-day French mantel clock by Lesage of Paris in ormolu and green marble case with ormolu mouldings and feet, draped ormolu figures of lovers to front. Gilt Roman numerals on green marble dial, with gilt brass Breguet hands and centre boss. Signed on the dial: Lesage, Rue Grange, Bateliere. Signed on the backplate by the movement maker Lesieurs, and on the movement by Cailly Aine. 1810 to 1829.
Provenance
Believed to be the 3rd Lord Berwick collection. William Noel-Hill, 3rd Baron Berwick (1773-1842). By descent, Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
