Summary
Empire 8-day mantel clock, circa 1820, by Lesage in a case of red marble with two figures representing Cupid and Psyche. Ormolu mounts and mouldings. Brass dial with Roman numerals and blue steel Breguet hands. Inscribed on the dial in black lettering LESAGE A PARIS. Under a later glass dome.
Provenance
Believed to be the 3rd Lord Berwick collection. William Noel-Hill, 3rd Baron Berwick (1773-1842). By descent, Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
