A group of seventeen oak and rush-seated ladderback chairs, comprising: 1. NT 608296.1.1 - .1.11: a set of eleven oak rush-seated chairs, made by Edward Gardiner (1880 - 1958) of Warwickshire, circa 1950, and 2. NT 608296.2.1 - .2.6: a set of six oak rush-seated open armchairs, made by Edward Gardiner (1880 - 1958) of Warwickshire, circa 1950. This model retailed as 'The Russell'.
Provenance
Ordered from Edward Gardiner by Sir George Trevelyan, Principal of the Shropshire Adult Education College at Attingham Park, for use in the Students' Dining Room. A gift to the National Trust from the Shropshire Adult Education College when it left Attingham in the 1970s.
