Summary
A mahogany duet stool, English, circa 1840. The rectangular seat padded and covered in green velvet. The pair of moulded 'X'-shaped end supports each raised on a pair of divergent supports with paw- and claw-carved feet. The supports joined by a double baluster-turned and lappet-carved stretcher with floral terminals. -- Of very good quality, and used with the chamber organ by Samuel Green in the Picture Gallery.
Provenance
Listed in an Inventory taken at Attingham Park in 1861 Inventory (p. 81) and in the Inventory taken there in 1913 (p. 60). By descent and bequeathed with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877 - 1947) and transferred to the National Trust on 15th May 1953.
