Summary
French rosewood letter casket, with hinged lid pierced with two slits. Decorated with boullework, inlaid brass in scroll design. Inset brass handle between two plaques. Raised on four ball feet. Interior centre divide. Brass lock. Manufactured in France circa 1830 and bearing a printed oval green paper label inside the lid which reads: 'A l'Union des Arts LESAGE Magasins des Meubles Bronzes dorures' and 'Rue Grange Batelieu N2'.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
