Summary
One of a set of three glazed coromandel or brazilwood table-top display cases, English, mid- to late 19th century. The locks by Chubb and marked 'CHUBB'S IMPROVED PATENT / ST PAULS CHYD LONDON 26793'. Rectangular, the lid glazed and hinged and enclosing an interior lined with red velvet. Fitted with brass lock, hinges and escutcheon.
Provenance
Listed in the Probate Valuation taken at Attingham Park in 1947 as 'Residuary Effects' (p. 30) and bequeathed with the estate, house and contents of Attingham Park by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877 - 1947) and transferred to the National Trust on 15th May 1953.
