Summary
A cherrywood or pearwood occasional table, Italian, circa 1820. The circular top carved to its low rim with a run of carved and ebonized leaves. Raised on three curving supports, topped by bronze-painted winged female busts and carved to the bottom with bronze-painted hoof feet. On a triangular platform base with concave sides and three inset wooden castors.
Provenance
Possibly originally the property of Costanza Mazini (1863 - 1939), of Venice, mother of Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890 - 1972) and brought to Attingham sometime after 1920. In a portrait of Lady Berwick of c. 1937. Listed in the inventory taken at Attingham in 1953 (p. 32, no. 22) and transferred to the National Trust by HM Treasury in 1976.
