Summary
Gouache on brown paper, Le Liris pres Sora, Italian (Neapolitan) School, circa 1820. One of a set of twelve gouache drawings, circa 1820. Gouache on paper. Mountainous landscape with a triple arch bridge over a river with weir. Female peasant figure crossing the water, two naked children playing in the foreground. 'Le Liris pres Sora' (written in gold below drawing). On brown paper page with wash border, in a red leather sketchbook.
Provenance
Possibly 3rd Lord Berwick collection: William Noel-Hill, 3rd Baron Berwick (1773-1842). By descent bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
