Summary
Ink, gouache and watercolour on paper, Ideal View of the projected Gallery at Attingham, Shropshire by Augustus Charles Pugin (Normandy c.1762 - England 1832). An early scheme for Nash's Picture Gallery, which can be dated to c.1805 from an inscription on the reverse. None of the paintings shown can be equated with pictures at Attingham then or now. The walls are a pale Pompeiian red; the floor is tiled; in the centre is a library table and chairs; at each corner a full length statue. Glazed in giltwood frame, leaf pattern inner border.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
