Spherical glass match holder with a narrowly ribbed body, fitted with a silver holder with wide rim. London manufacture in 1825 by A. Barrett and Sons.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.

London Assay Office mark; Lion Passant standard mark; 'k' date letter; 'AB and Co' maker's mark. Stamped; 'A.BARRETT and SONS' (above) indecipherable address (?).
