Summary
Woman’s evening dress. A cream silk lisse bodice with long sleeves and an inner cream silk Habutai bodice. The bodice is overlaid with cream embroidered net extending over the shoulders. This is overlaid with a fichu of black cotton machine made lace. Beneath these running horizontally around the bodice at modesty strip level is cream cotton net embroidered with metal thread. The sleeves have a decorative band of embroidery and beadwork around the elbows. Wrists are trimmed with black velvet ribbon. The neckline is trimmed back and front with two narrow velvet ribbons and beading and there is a black velvet sash at waist that finishes in a bow at CB. The skirt is cream silk from the waist to the knee and then black silk satin from knee to hem line. This is overlaid with a half skirt of cream silk lisse trimmed with a wide horizontal band of cream cotton net embroidered with metal thread. This is further overlaid with a black machine made half-length skirt. The dress fastens CB with metal hooks and eyes and some embroidered eyes. The cream silk Habutai inner bodice is trimmed with a narrow cream cotton lace and there is an internal waistband of cotton grosgrain fastening with two metal hooks and eyes.
