Summary
A woman's afternoon dress, made from brocaded silk in rose and gold stripe with a gold and black chrysanthemum motif. Dress gives the effect of comprising of a cream moiré front with brocaded over robe. “Over robe” has turn back collar, three quarter length sleeves and is open at the front. “Under robe” has stand up collar, fastens CF with pearl buttons and stitched buttonholes. “Over robe” collar and cuffs are trimmed with narrow pink silk ribbon, the same of which is fashioned into carnation shaped rosettes at cuffs, CF waist, neck back and CB waist. Silk mousseline covers the stand collar, is ruched over the yoke of the “under robe” and ruffled to edge collar, cuffs and front opening of “outer robe”. Hem is trimmed with tucked with two layers of fine tucked cotton scrim. Skirt and bodice are lined with cream glazed cotton. Boned bodice. Cotton herringbone tape internal waistband.
