Summary
A woman's crocheted reticule made from gilt thread and green, black and white cotton thread. The bag is crocheted in bands, with the central band made from gilt thread, embroidered in the centre with a design of flowers on one side and on the other a central medallion of laurel leaves with "Wellington" embroidered in black. The top and bottom bands are made from white thread spotted with gilt thread and with a dark green border. The top of the bag is made from green cotton thread and gilt, through which the drawstring is threaded. Both the base of the bag and the drawstring have small wooden pendants, which are covered in gilt and green thread in stripes. An auctioneers slip still inside the bag reads, "Wellington Purse £4".
