Summary
An officer's tunic of the Londonderry Militia, made from scarlet wool facecloth and lined with silk twill and a finely milled wool, both now discoloured. The tunic has an elaborately decorated stand-up collar and cuffs in a combination of extensive laid gold thread embroidery and Russian braid. There are also twisted cord epaulettes, originally gold coloured, now tarnished to silver. The tunic has twelve crested buttons in all, eight centre front for fastening, one per shoulder and a further two on the reverse. These are crested and feature a castle topped with the word "Londonderry", the standard issue button for all Londonderry Militia uniforms. See associated photographs for further details.
