Summary
A man’s High Sheriff tunic.The tunic is made from scarlet wool facecloth and is lined with a combination of white silk twill and a finely milled white wool (both now discoloured). The tunic has black cuffs and a stand-up collar, which are decorated with silver gilt embroidery of acorns and oak leaves. Additional silver gilt embroidery on the tunic tails feature decoration of shamrocks. See individual photographs for further details, The tunic has two rows of ten silver crested buttons (see associated photograph) centre front and a further two hook and eye fastenings on the collar.
