Summary
A baby's christening robe made from white cotton lawn. The capped-sleeve robe is decorated with broderie anglaise trim on the cuffs, with feather stitch embroidery and broderie anglaise on the bib. The skirt has a central panel of pintucking and broderie anglaise in horizontal rows from waist to hem. The robe is unlined and fastens with two cotton ties centre back, one missing.
Provenance
Gift of Mrs E.F.Smiley. Originally worn by Mrs Smiley's father, George Frank Webb (b.1879 died aged 65), her grand-daughter and grandson.
