Summary
A man's tailcoat for a High Sheriff, part of an ensemble, made from wool facecloth. The double-breasted coat is made from red wool with cream wool edging on the coat tails. It has a stand collar which is decorated with gold thread embroidery in a pattern of shamrocks, with matching details on the turned cuffs, and applique gold thread shamrocks on the base of the tails, reverse. It has twenty crested buttons centre front, intact, with two matching buttons on the back waist. The coat is fully lined in cream wool twill, with the torso quilted.
