Summary
A woman's wedding dress bodice, part of an ensemble, made from cream silk satin. The sleeveless bodice has wide silk satin shoulder straps which are trimmed with machine-made cream silk lace, with further lace trim on the neckline front and back and on the front from neck to hem. The bodice is pleated and tucked for shaping front and back and the bodice hem is trimmed with a panel of pearls and beige rocaille beading. There is also a trim on the left shoulder of orange blossom and leaves made from wax, wire and paper. The bodice is fully lined in striped glazed cotton twill, with thirteen boning strips, integral sweat pads, an internal waist tie made from cotton webbing and thirteen hooks and eyes centre front for fastening, intact. A maker's stamp on the inner waist tie reads, "Miss Atkinson. Costumier. 21 Courtney Terrace, Belfast".
