Summary
Woman’s dress. Fawn wool face cloth dress heavily decorated with long sleeves and high neck. The hem is embellished with Richlieu work, laid chenille threads and embroidered net inserts. CF panel and two horizontal bands around the hips have been cut and inlaid with embroidered net. This has been trimmed with silver laid thread work and chenille threads. The sleeves from the elbow down and yoke and collar are constructed from cream silk floss embroidered net. The cuffs fasten with four Mother of pearl buttons with stitched loops. The high stand collar is boned and fastens with metal hooks and stitched eyes. The back of the bodice is shaped and decorated with pin tucks and has a CB opening and fastens with many metal hooks and stitched eyes. The dress has an inner boned bodice that fastens with metal hooks and eyes. There is an internal cotton and silk waistband that fastens with two metal hooks and eyes. The dress has an interlining of beige silk lisse and a lining of cream, weighted silk. The skirt lining has a band of accordion pleating around the hem that appears to extend beyond the hem of the dress. There is extra padding in the bust area. Label reads, 'Redfern'.
