Summary
A woman's bed jacket made from white cotton lawn. The half-sleeved jacket has whitework embroidery on the front both left and right in a floral motif with the cuffs, front facings and hem embroidered and scalloped. A maker's label stitched to an inner seam reads, "Bel Broid Lingerie". This was a lingerie company set up in Monaghan to create machine and hand sewn lingerie, after three Belgian sisters from Mechelen came to the area as refugees during the First World War and taught the local women to sew and embroider.
