Summary
A woman's presentation dress, made from cream silk satin duchesse. The dress has short smoke-coloured silk chiffon sleeves, trimmed with a band of pearls and pearl bugle beads on the cuff, with a wide band of matching beading around the waist both front and back and along the side opening front left, and with a long train. It is unlined, with twelve boning strips, hooks and eyes for fastening front left (several missing or damaged) and an internal waist tie of silk twill. A makers stamp on the inner waistband reads, "Madame Cordell. Court Dress/Mantle Maker. Newton House, 28 Finborough Road, S. Kensington".
