Summary
A woman's waistcoat for riding, made from cream wool twill with a Tattersall check in mid and dark blue. The waistcoat inner front facing (right) is lined with a strip of cream moire silk satin and the remainder of the waistcoat front lining, the stand collar and the back are made from cream cotton sateen. There are eight boning strips spanning from side to front both left and right and the waistcoat fastens centre front with 22 mother-of-pearl buttons, intact. There is a small coin pocket incorporated in the lining, front right side. There are three sets of small hooks on the back lining, spanning from armhole to waist. These would have been used to lace up the back of the waistcoat.
