Summary
A man's tailcoat, part of an ensemble, made from mulberry wool facecloth. The long-sleeved coat has deep, turned cuffs, trimmed with three cut steel buttons and with a cream cotton lace frill. It has two flapped pockets on the hips which are stitched closed, trimmed with matching buttons and fastens centre front with a further six cut steel buttons, intact. The back vent incorporates two concealed pockets and further decorative buttons. The coat is fully lined in cream silk twill, with the torso quilted.
