Summary
A woman's down-filled petticoat made from printed cotton. The red cotton ground (Madder Red) has a printed design of a green and yellow flower pattern (Turkey Chintz) from the waistband to three inches above the hem, the remainder being plain red cotton with white stitching. The petticoat has been quilted using a diaper pattern throughout, and each pocket is filled with feathers. Internally the petticoat is plain red cotton with white stitching evident for the quilted areas. The front facings of the petticoat have been replaced historically in fabrics that do not match the original. To the right is a strip of pale blue ribbed cotton and to the left a deeper blue cotton with white flower decoration.
