Summary
Woman’s dress. Black satin tea dress with long sleeves, V-neck and black and gold silk satin brocade around middle of bodice. Bodice front panel lined with black silk chiffon and fastens on proper left shoulder with five metal press-studs. Black satin of bodice back is cut away in a low, square neckline and the whole back is overlaid with black silk chiffon. Cuffs are trimmed with black silk chiffon. Bodice and skirt wrap around to give a double layer at front. A panel of black pleated silk satin with long black silk fringe at end is attached either side of the waist and hangs loose. A wide pleated sash wraps around waist; the loose end is knotted and drops down the proper left side over the pleated satin panel and is trimmed with a large silk fringed tassel. Inner bodice of cream silk net and cream silk Habutai fastening CF with thirteen metal hooks and eyes and reinforced at waist with a cream silk and cotton ribbed internal waistband. The skirt has an internal waistband of brown cotton and silk ribbed tape. The under part of the skirt fastens with seven metal hooks and eyes and the waistband fastens with two metal hooks and eyes. The wrap-part of the overskirt fastens with a further six metal hooks and eyes at waist. Skirt lined with black silk Habutai.
