Summary
Woman’s bodice. Cream silk satin evening bodice is overlaid with cream silk chiffon that also forms the sleeves. Bodice overlaid with pink silk net and gold metal-thread lace, the gold lace forms the proper left sleeve trims the back of the proper right sleeve. The rest of the proper right sleeve is trimmed with bands of small pearls and diamante. The back of the bodice is trimmed with a large roundel of gold metal and pink glass beads. Bodice is unlined and has two silk-covered underarm protectors and eleven boning strips inside cotton and silk twill casing. Silk and cotton grosgrain internal waist incorporating woven label, fastens CB with metal hook and eye. Silk drawstring lace at neck with wrapped metal ends. Bodice fastens CB with six metal hooks and eyes. Fastening strips are faced with cream satin ribbon. 12.02.20 - This bodice has been removed from its original skirt, the bodice hem is completely unfinished. There is extensive diamante and pearl loss on the right-hand sleeve and the chiffon has partially failed as well.
