Summary
A woman's bodice made from black silk brocade and fine pink silk twill. The bodice has very large puffed sleeves which were popular during the period 1890-1900, and end at the elbow with an elasticated cuff. It is decorated with black chemical lace and pleated pink silk twill around the neckline and the main ground is brocaded in black thread in a floral pattern. Internally, the bodice is fully lined in black jap silk, has eleven boning strips from waist to hem and fastens with fourteen hooks and eyes centre front, all intact. Stamped in gold lettering to the cotton twill waist tie inside the bodice, "Mrs Anderson. Milliner & Dressmaker. Lucknow". Also handwritten on the inner sleevehead lining, "Parkinson-Cumine".
