Summary
Woman’s dress. Black silk taffeta dress overlaid with black silk georgette and trimmed at hem with pleated taffeta frill. Front of dress overlaid with an apron of artificial silk? georgette edged with a wide band of machine-made lace (probably artificial silk). Bodice overlaid with pleated silk georgette and lace, with short lace over-sleeves and short fine silk organza under-sleeves trimmed with lace. Dress opens CB and is trimmed at back of waist with georgette rosettes (same fabric as apron). Bodice is heavily boned with eleven strips of whalebone. Internal narrow cotton waistband incorporating an embroidered silk label, fastens CF with one metal hook and eye. Bodice has a plain weave silk ribbon drawstring at neck and fastens CB with eleven hooks and eyes.
