Summary
A woman's dress, part of an ensemble, made from royal blue silk satin. The dress, originally a separate bodice and skirt, has a v-shaped neckline and self-coloured decorative piping on the bodice and sleeve-heads, with a deep waistband in matching silk satin; a later addition dating to when the bodice and skirt were combined. The full-length sleeves are decorated with a matching silk satin armband just above the elbow. The skirt hem has a blue wool braid binding and a small hidden pocket just below the waistband on the left hand side, which is lined in pale blue silk. Internally the bodice is fully lined in white linen and the skirt is fully lined in glazed cotton. The dress fastens with twelve hooks and eyes centre back, two missing. To go with 602940.2 (cape) and 602940.3 (shawl collar).
