Summary
A woman's bodice, part of a dress, made from black silk taffeta. The bodice is undecorated on the front face, with the peplum on the rear decorated with black silk cord in a pattern of loops, matching black glass beads and four self-covered decorative buttons. There is evidence that the sleeve-heads have been altered historically. The bodice is lined in brown cotton twill, with the arms lined in pale grey linen. There are six boning strips and the bodice fastens centre front with fourteen hooks and eyes, all intact. There are two detached trims with corded design and beads that appear to belong to the bodice. They could have come from the collar or shoulder areas. A handwritten note in red ink on an internal seam reads, "McDonald-Tyler", the donor.
